As soon as we reached our hotel we quickly dropped off our bags in anticipation of exploring our surroundings. We opted to stay in Khoi Area, District 1 (another great option, which is called the backpacker area, is Pham Ngu Lao).

District 1 has a wide variety of restaurants featuring cuisines from around the world as well as local faire at the corner street stalls. It’s a great mix of high end to low end. Although the cheaper meals may be in other districts this one defiantly provides an array of offerings for you to choose from.

We opted for a Japanese place that I cannot remember the name of but the food was good. The service was exceptional. I have to say though it was a bit strange having someone stand next to our table as we ate waiting for us to ask for any small thing.
A must do on the list is ensuring that you hit up a local massage club. Take your pick Ho Chi Minh they are probably more common than Starbucks in the states.
My suggestion is Golden Lotus Massage club and Spa. It was my first “real” foot message., apparently a favorite of the Vietnamese. Almost any message you get will include particular attention to the foot area. Is it too much to say that the country may have a bit of a foot fetish? While it may have been somewhat painful it certainly left me wanting more…
